Membership Meeting, Murray Center, 7pm, March 20th

Please join us at the Murray Center for our Membership Meeting.

It is March 2023; and an odd numbered year. That means it is time to take nominations for the Director positions of the SOARA Board to be voted on in April. These positions are a 2 year commitment of which some have committed to the positions longer than that. If unopposed, they may continue to do so. OR….if you are interested in running for one of these positions, you may do just that. If you’re not sure about what a position’s responsibilities entail; you can find it on the SOARA website. Though some positions rely on some technical abilities, none require a degree in Rocket Science. Please join us at the Murray Center on Monday. You may nominate yourself for a Director’s position or nominate someone else; preferable with them knowing and agreeing to it.

Subject matter for presentation this night is still TBD. There will be a Door Prize for a Radio.

Erik Wresch, VP – SOARA

Ham Radio Examinations will take place prior to the General Meeting and also at the Murray Center. Testing session starts at 6pm and is $15/session.

Pre-registration is not required and you don’t need to be a SOARA member to take the test. Please contact our Education Director, Steve Kuver, if you have questions about testing at k6uvr@soara.org

Membership Meeting, Norman P. Murray Center, Mission Viejo, Monday, February 27th at 7pm.

Please join us at the Murray Center for our Membership Meeting.

In – Person Guest Speakers are not as plentiful as pre-pandemic days, but that doesn’t mean there is nothing to talk about, or a lack of informational videos to glean as a group. We have snacks and coffee (I try my best to take care of you guys in that department). So what is keeping you from coming to a Membership Meeting? The more, the better.

I will be seeking out a good video on Transmitter Hunting as that is the next subject for a SOARA Saturday; T-Hunt Antenna Building. Ed Barnes has sent out email regarding supplies for building an antenna and what you need to gather to build one.

Transmitter Hunting has actually been one of the most fun activities I’ve done in Ham Radio; especially when it comes to tracking the High Altitude Balloon twice a year for our friends over at Science Heads. (next chase is in April). If  you have anything share one this subject, you are more than welcome.

Join us for a few hours on Monday (we should be drying out from the cold front soaking us over the weekend) If you haven’t been out in awhile and chatted with some fellow Hams….then this is the time to show up. We look forward to seeing you there.   Erik Wresch, VP – SOARA
