SOARA Saturday, March 18th – APRS

VE3SUN APRS Monitor APRS_MonThis Saturday 3/18 we will have a live SOARA Saturday at the Murray Center 9am to noon.

Brian NJ6N will demo APRS and various aspects. The last time Brian demonstrated and presented APRS, he filled the room!

There will be coffee and donuts as well. Special thanks to Bill KM6FOY for helping with the coffee.

There will be no tech net this Saturday. Tech nets will resume the following week.

April 15th General Meeting: Joe Moell

This month we are delighted to welcome Joe Moell KØOV. He is a  registered professional electronic engineer and an active Amateur Radio enthusiast since age 11.

Joe has over 45 years of experience designing radio-frequency circuits and systems for broadcast, communications, and radar, ranging from near-DC through microwave frequencies.  He has designed new devices for radio direction finding and has written about RDF and other topics for almost every ham radio publication in the USA.

In February 1998, he was appointed by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) as the USA’s first ARDF Coordinator, to promote international-style foxhunting and to organize Team USA for international ARDF competitions.  He also conducts the annual CQ Worldwide Foxhunting Weekend.

Joe has written hundreds of articles and columns on RDF, and as a Technical Advisor to ARRL Headquarters has authored a new chapter on RDF for The ARRL Handbook.


Ham Radio Examinations will be administered at 6:00 PM, prior to the start of our general meeting. Cost is $15/attempt. Pre-registration is not required and you don’t need to be a SOARA member to take the test.
