The subject for tonight: So, you came and heard Arnie’s Shatz’s presentation “So You Want To Be A DXer?! “last October? Tonight, Arnie will answer the questions of “What does it cost to do that?”
Arnold “Arnie” Shatz, N6HC, has been a FCC licensed amateur radio operator for 65 years and earned an Extra Class ticket in 1976. He is a resident of Orange County, California and a retired Board Certified Urologist. His affiliations include more than a 60 year history of ARRL membership with inclusion in the ARRL Legacy Circle, membership in the Northern California DX Foundation (NCDXF), Southern California DX Club (SCDXC), Orange County Amateur Radio Club (OCARC), Medical Amateur Radio Council, Ltd. (MARCO) and Chiltern DX Club (CDXC – UK). He is a Volunteer Examiner (VE) and ARRL / CQ awards Field QSL Card checker. He serves as station Trustee for the Dorothy Grant Elementary School Amateur Radio Club (K6DGE) in Fontana, California. He enjoys operating HF CW, SSB, digital modes and VHF/UHF/microwave contest rovering. He is an active contester, DX chaser and DXpeditioner. He has earned DXCC #1 Honor Roll status (Mixed/Phone) and Honor Roll status (CW), DXCC (RTTY), 9 band DXCC and WAZ (CW & Phone). Since 2005, he has been a team member and medical consultant on 14 major Dxpeditions to many exotic and uninhabited islands in the North and South Pacific, Indian and Southern oceans. He has been a featured speaker at numerous amateur radio clubs and conventions around the country.

Ham Radio Examinations will take place prior to the General Meeting and also at the Murray Center. Testing session starts at 6pm and is $15/session.
Pre-registration is not required and you don’t need to be a SOARA member to take the test. Please contact our Education Director, Steve Kuver, if you have questions about testing at k6uvr@soara.org
