Pleased join us as we present our May SOARA Guest Speaker; ARRL Section Manger Bob Turner W6RHK.

No specific topic has been given, but as is customary we will likely be hearing some updates about what is going at at the ARRL and how that affects the Ham Radio Operators.

This is Bob’s first time visiting us down here in Mission Viejo and we would love to as many of our club members in attendance to give Bob a warm South Orange County welcome.

Ham Radio Examinations will take place prior to the General Meeting and also at the Murray Center. Testing session starts at 6pm and is $15/session.

Pre-registration is not required and you don’t need to be a SOARA member to take the test. Please contact our Education Director, Steve Kuver, if you have questions about testing at k6uvr@soara.org

May 18th & 19th Special Event Station for SOARA 50th Anniversary

What’s Officially Happening?

SOARA will be commemorating our 50 Years of Service Anniversary at the Upper Gilleran Park Picnic Shelter, daytime only, on MAY 18, and MAY19 for the SOARA Official Special Event Station (SES).

We’ve registered the SES with the ARRL, so we should Officially appear in the May 2024 Edition of QST!
We’ll be sending out special QSL cards to contacts, on request, with the SOARA 50th Anniversary logo and telling the world a little about the reason for the SES and about SOARA.
We’ll need some help making this happen, in the area of Antennas, Radios, Food, possibly an easy-up or 2 to dispurse the stations a bit.  All bands are available, VHF, UHF, and HF.  We will only have frequencies on 10, 15, 20 and 40 meters published in QST. though, because of their format.
Be thinking about what you’d like to do. Operations will be similar to Winter Field Day.
Should be good practice for ARRL Field Day in June, but also FUN!
