November 21: Fall Auction

AuctionTime to clean out the HAM shack and pick up some new projects for the winter!  All are welcome to attend the next SOARA Fall Auction on Monday, November 21 at the Norman P Murray Center in Mission Viejo starting at 7pm. For more information and rules of the SOARA live auctions, check here.  A regularly scheduled FCC licensing examination will occur prior to the meeting at 6pm.

October 17: General Meeting

cafiremuseumAll are welcome to the next SOARA general meeting on Monday, October 17 at 7pm at the Norman P Murray Center in Mission Viejo. This month’s speaker is Don Croucher from the California Fire Museum – Safety Learning Center.  HAM exams start at 6pm.


The California Fire Museum-Safety Learning Center (CFM-SLC)  will make a presentation to the South Orange Amateur Radio Association during their October 17 meeting. The Power Point presentation  will cover the history and operations of the CFM -SLC and our future plans for our project at the OC Great Park. After the presentation, CFM Vice President Don Croucher will answer questions.

August 7: SOARA Picnic

jvn04On the first Sunday of August SOARA holds a picnic to give an opportunity for the families of the club members and their friends to meet in an informal setting.

SOARA provides hamburgers, hot dogs, tea and water. We ask that club members bring a side dish.

There is no cost for this event.  The public is welcome although we request that you recognize that this function is provided on a first come first served basis and supplies will be limited.


August 15: SOARA Fair

WHEN: Monday, August 15, 2016
TIME: 7:00pm – 9:00pm
WHERE: Norman P Murray Community Center, 24932 Veterans Way, Mission Viejo

The SOARA Fair is held once a year during the August general club meeting where club subject matter experts will hold “mini-seminars” on a range of Amateur Radio and electronic topics.  The mini-seminars are held informally and you can rotate from seminar to seminar.  This event is open to the public and there is no cost to attend.
